Thanks to everyone who came out to support Gawad Kalinga at Raise the Roof III, it was our spring newbies’ first performance with Modern and we all had a lot of fun. Some of us even performed again throughout the night with Philup Cariaso’s Movement Project and SPAM!
Zeta Phi Rho, Alpha Chapter Presents:
Gawad Kalinga (GK) translated in English means “to give care”. It is also an alternative solution to the blatant problem of poverty not just in the Philippines, but in the world. Its goal: to create a higher standard of life, to return dignity to the people, and create hope in the world.
For the past 2 years, we have been organizing an event to be advocates for this hope. And the time has come… On Sunday, March 21, 2010, Zeta Phi Rho, Alpha Chapter presents Raise the Roof – A Gawad Kalinga Benefit Concert @ the Carpenter’s Performing Arts Center [CSULB]
The theme this year will be GK Reaches Out. We are highlighting the works that GK does outside of the Philippines. To quote Gawad Kalinga, “Kindness and caring could also come from far away places, because to care is to see no borders, and borders are irrelevant to those who aspire to help. If there’s a will, as they used to say, there will always be a way to respond to the cry of the homeless however distant they are, however difficult it could be. ”
With this in mind we will be raffling off FIVE FREE TICKETS! To enter in the raffle, post on the event wall how you have lent a hand and helped someone out lately. In the event that you already have bought a ticket, you will be reimbursed for your ticket! Good luck to you all!
